What is Mass Save?

Mass Save is an initiative focused on making more homes and businesses energy-efficient in their heating and cooling systems. It is funded by some of the state’s natural gas and electric utility providers to help homeowners save energy and money.

Who Is Mass Save?

The companies that fund Mass Save rebates are Berkshire Gas, Blackstone Gas Company, Cape Light Compact, Columbia Gas of Massachusetts, Liberty Utilities, National Grid, Eversource, and Unitil.

What Are Some of The Programs?

New Construction Program

If you are building your own energy-efficient single family home or even a low/high-rise multi-family building in Massachusetts, you could qualify for a rebate as little at $350 or as much as $4,500 per unit. (You can also get additional incentives for heating and water heating units you install).

Do I Qualify?

If you’re building a new home and are focusing on energy-efficiency, as well as installing energy-efficient heating and water heating systems, you could qualify.

High-Efficiency Oil & Propane Heating Equipment Mass Save Rebates Program

If you’ve been thinking about upgrading or replacing your oil/propane heating system in your home, then you should think about installing an energy-efficient system, which could qualify you for Mass Save rebates as great as $1,200!

And not only that, but a new energy-efficient system will save you big bucks on your heating costs in the winter.

Do I Qualify?

To qualify for this program you have to live in Massachusetts and be a customer of National Grid, Eversource, Unitil, or Cape Light Compact.

You have to have a licensed heating or plumbing contractor (like Total Comfort) install the units, and they must use the same fuel source as the previous heating system in your home. See the Mass Save website here for other requirements.

Water Heating Equipment Mass Save Rebates

Do you have an old water heater that you’re planning to get rid of? Then you might qualify for some Mass Save rebates! If you upgrade to a more energy-efficient furnace, boiler, or water heater than you could receive as much as $1,600 is rebates! You can even do as little as replace your home’s thermostats.

If your boiler or furnace is above a certain age and still functional you could receive an even bigger rebate—up to $3,500!

To qualify for this rebate, you must reside in Massachusetts and be a customer of Berkshire Gas, Columbia Gas of Massachusetts, Eversource, Liberty Utilities, National Grid or Unitil. You must also have a licensed eating or plumbing contractor (such as Total Comfort) install the new water heater.
